When I am reading I will:
  1. Use the information in the text to make judgements about it.
  2. Use my prior (existing) knowledge to help make judgements about the text.
  3. Read parts of the text several times to make a judgement about the text.
  4. Know that the conclusion or assumption may not be directly written and I will have to use the information in the text to make one.

WALT find perimeters, areas and volumes of simple shapes
Success Criteria
We have:
  • Calculated perimeter by adding up the measurements of each side of the shape. We have put the correct unit of measurement after the total.
  • Calculated area by multiplying the length by the width of the shape and recorded the answer as a squared measurement.
  • Calculated volume by multiplying the length by the width by the height of the shape and recorded the answer as a cubic measurement.

My reading group did a word map about the article Ants on the March, what we had to do is we had to find two words we didn’t know in the story and we had to find the word we are doing in a dictionary.
My next step in Reading is to make a conclusion or an assumption.

I wrote a poem about the Cross Country. The way i found interesting words is i thought of what i did in the Cross Country and thought of different words to boring words.

Solve a problem by using my 2x, 5x, 10x, facts then adding or taking a little bit more. Solve a problem by using groups of 2’s, 3’s, 5’s, & 10’s, & remainders
I used my tables to help me solve problems eg 43 /5 = 8 remainder 3 because 8x5=40, 40 +3=43.
I am currently trying to know my 3,4 times tables off by heart, And i am currently getting to know my 6,7,8,9 times tables.

My Habitat and Species Description

WALT describe different habitats in New Zealand and species that live in them.
Success Criteria:

    3. Species they belong to

I have created a New Zealand ocean habitat and included 3 creatures that live there, One endemic, one native and one introduced.

The Ocean habitat contains different animals and plants. Plants like sea cucumber, sea weed, kelp and coral and creatures like, Colossal squid, Sharks, different types of fish and Hector’s dolphin. Also the Ocean is 2700 metres deep.

The introduced animal that I have chosen is, the great white shark. The great white shark is 4.5 m in length, but some have been found that are larger, about 6 m. They generally weigh up to 2250 kg. Yes, the great white is endangered, They eat Sea lions, Carrions, Seals, Small toothed whales (like belugas), Fish, Rays, and other sharks.

The native animal that I have chosen is, Hector’s dolphin. It’s one of the smallest marine dolphins in the world, Hector’s dolphins grow no more than 1.5 m in length and weigh between 40 and 60 kg. Males are slightly smaller and lighter than females. They eat red cod, flatfish, yellow-eyed mullet, fish, and squids.

The endemic animal I have done is the longfin eel. They eat fresh-water crayfish and even small birds like ducklings. They also grow up to 1.2 in length.

The Great white shark, Hector’s dolphin, And the Longfin eel all live in NZ waters.

Dear Diary

WALT: View the world form another person's point of view

Dear diary, Life in the trenches is horrible and the meals are anything but satisfying. Lying  there in the trench  with no protection really scares me. You  never know anyone could come down and kill me, My gun is useless, All my friends were shot too, My gun got snapped in half , So there goes my protection  I'm lucky i didn't die. I have been wearing my clothes for a long.... time, Never  been washed only when it rains, Like in war sucks. The main thing is I didn't die that's the main thing. Also that i was saved by Nipper the messenger dog. Next i knew i woke up in the hospital, In pain. Would I ever be able to go back to the front to fight for my country?.
